writing mentorship
One-on-one mentorship for writers who want to go deeper into their work, liberate their voice, and build a sustainable creative practice.
These sessions are designed to help you begin, develop, and complete projects—while giving you the tools and confidence to keep going on your own.
Open for all levels, we’ll look closely at your process, your material, and the form your work is taking. Together, we’ll identify what your work needs and develop methods that are specific to you.
our sessions may focus on:
Getting Unstuck
Identify the inner and outer obstacles creating friction in your writing life and develop practical ways to move through them.
Building a Writing Life
Create structures that give your writing more space and consistency in your everyday life.
Deep, Rigorous Feedback
Receive thoughtful, detailed feedback on your work. We’ll look at structure, character, rhythm, language, and style—and learn how to read your own work with greater generosity.
Reading & Creative Dialogue
Build a personal constellation of writers, books, films, music, and visual artists that can open new pathways in your work.
Finding Your Flow
Develop practices that make inspiration less dependent on waiting for the right moment and help you return to the work with rigor and consistency.
Creative Self-Reliance
The goal is ultimately to need less external direction. You’ll develop ways to generate new material from your previous work, recognize what your work needs, and fully trust the wealth of your own imagination and instincts.
Session length: 1 hour
3 month writing program
This is an extension of the one-on-one mentorship program, but for those who need a three month commitment for their project. Same level of attention to your work and practice will be given as the “writing mentorship,” with the emphasis on building your project with a consistent effort.
These one-on-one sessions are for writers at any level—whether you are beginning a new project, feeling stuck in your writing life, or deep into your work-in-progress and looking for rigorous, MFA level feedback and guidance.
Session length: 1 hour. We will meet once a month for three months.
body of work - artist mentorship
These sessions are designed for artists who want to build more than individual paintings or artworks. Together, we'll develop the thoughts, structure, and the sustained practice to generate a strong and cohesive body of work.
what to expect:
Gaining Clarity
We'll begin by identifying where you are in your practice and what you're hoping to build—whether you're developing an existing body of work, revisiting older work, or beginning from a blank slate. We'll identify the questions and next steps that matter most to you.
Deep Critique
Through close conversations, we'll examine the structure of your work: composition, materials, process, and the relationship between form and content. Focusing on isolated pieces, we'll consider how individual works contribute to a larger body of work.
Research and Dialogue
Our conversations are informed by art history, contemporary practice, literature, and other references that resonate with your work. You'll leave with artists, books, and ideas to continue exploring between sessions.
Building an Independent Practice
Beyond individual artworks, we'll develop ways of working that help you rely on your intuition, and trust your voice. We will build a practice that can sustain itself over time, until eventually you will only need you.
