bio:
Esra Güler is an artist and writer from Istanbul, Turkey, whose work is interested in creating fictional worlds that feel akin to skin contact.
Across painting, drawing, and writing, she explores intimacy and rupture: the connections between people, the frictions that sever them, and the ways cultural norms, power, and psychological systems shape—and sometimes destabilize—our relationships.
Güler holds an MFA in Creative Writing-Fiction from Bennington Writing Seminars and a BFA in Theater, with a major in Acting and minor in Playwriting. She has also studied painting and drawing at the Florence Academy of Art in Florence, Italy.
She lives and works in Seattle, where her visual work is represented by ANTiPODE Gallery. Her exhibitions include solo shows at ANTiPODE and the Museum of Museums, as well as group exhibitions in Seattle and Los Angeles.
